Training

During the V Squad program players attend different types of training days that provide different learning environments and experiences.

Melbourne Camps

Our V Squad Camps (non residential), are full day training sessions held in the April and September school holidays. During these sessons we put our members in the ultimate on field learning environment with leading AFL coaches applying technical skill development to game situations. Off field our lifestyle educators will provide information, drills and activities to improve skills and capabilities to balance school, sports and social lives.

The September camp brings all players to Melbourne and covers physical assessment, two-day days of on and off field activities to develop specific football and life skills.

The April Camp (one full day session in Melbourne plus a half day sessions in each of our regional hubs) will build on the established foundations and further improve the knowledge base in key performance areas.

Regional Sessions

During the school holidays in January and July we will hold half day training sessions. These sessions are held at our six regional hubs (Melbourne Metro, Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat, Traralgon, Shepparton) This is a great opportunity to touch base with the players to reinforce the skills taught at the camps, as well as monitor our personal development program.

Squad Sessions

In the first half of the football season we hold two small group sessions after school. Sessions are held in each of our regional training hubs (Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat, Traralgon, and Shepparton) as well as in the four corners of Melbourne Metro (North, South, East and West Metro).

Players are geographically allocated to the closest squad and provide an opportunity to work on the fundamentals and individual craft. Groups sizes are limited to ensure targeted coaching.
